Shockwave Therapy
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy is a FDA-cleared, minimally-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic sound waves to stimulate natural healing. Compressed air accelerates a projectile within a guiding tube that strikes a metal applicator placed on the patient's area of complaint. The kinetic energy is converted into an acoustic sound wave. This acoustic sound wave transmits its energy into the tissue to a depth of 4 to 5 cm. It was first used in 1980's to treat kidney stones. In the decades to follow, researchers discovered other positive benefits for musculoskeletal disorders.
What are the benefits of Shockwave Therapy?
Faster recovery time: Shockwave therapy helps increase blood flow to a specific area of the body. This type of technology helps speed the recovery process such as tendonitis of any muscle in the body, plantar fasciitis, golfers elbow, tennis elbow, bursitis, muscular strains, ligament sprains, and much more.
