Manual Therapy

What types of Manual Therapy are offered at Mile High Spine?

Myofascial Release: This type of manual therapy targets specific muscles, tendons, or ligaments. For this approach, the doctor manually applies direct pressure to the soft-tissue using their thumb, while the patient actively moves the affected area. This treatment specifically treats the underlying soft-tissue problem. Unlike traditional massage therapy, the patient actively moves to isolate the specific area of complaint.
Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization: This type of manual therapy focuses on the outer layer of the soft-tissue. For this approach, the doctor applies direct pressure to the soft-tissue using a specialized, stainless-steel tool. This breaks up scar-tissue and adhesions on the superficial myofascial layer of the soft-tissue.
Percussion Massage: This type of manual therapy uses a motorized massage gun that vibrates at a rapid and repetitive rate. The massage head is applied to a specific muscle or muscle group to increase blood flow, reduce muscle soreness, release muscle tension, and recover from intense exercise.

What are the benefits of Manual Therapy?

Benefits include: reduction of muscular tension, pain, stiffness, scar tissue, and muscular adhesions. Increased range of motion, blood flow, and lymphatic circulation. Enhanced overall tissue function and athletic performance. Restored normal sliding between tissue fibers. Faster recovery time for overuse injuries, sport injuries, tendonitis, and ligament sprains.
